PVC Registration & Transfer Guide for 2027 Elections
How to register for your PVC, transfer your voter registration, and update your details ahead of Nigeria's 2027 elections.
The Permanent Voter's Card (PVC) is your ticket to participating in Nigeria's democracy. Without it, you cannot vote. Whether you are a first-time voter, you have moved to a new state, or your card is lost or damaged, this guide covers everything you need to know to secure your PVC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise for 2027 runs from April 2026 through January 2027. We strongly recommend completing your registration or transfer well before the deadline to avoid last-minute queues and processing delays.

New PVC Registration
If you have never registered to vote, or you turned 18 after the last registration cycle, follow these steps to enroll.
Eligibility
- You must be a Nigerian citizen by birth or naturalization
- You must be at least 18 years old on or before the registration date
- You must be of sound mind
- You must not have been convicted of an electoral offense
Required Documents
Bring at least one of the following valid means of identification:
- National Identity Card (NIN slip accepted)
- Nigerian International Passport
- Driver's License
- Birth Certificate (for age verification)
- Any other government-issued ID with photo
Registration Process

Visit an INEC registration center
Go to the nearest INEC state office or designated local government registration center. Registration is free of charge.

Complete the INEC voter registration form with your personal details, including name, date of birth, address, and contact information.

PVC Transfer (Moving to a New State or LGA)
If you have relocated since your last registration, you must transfer your voter registration to your new area of residence. You cannot vote at your old polling unit if you no longer live there.
When to Transfer
You should apply for a transfer if you have changed your permanent residence to a different Local Government Area or state. This includes students moving for school, workers transferred by their employers, or anyone who has relocated for personal reasons. Transfers can only be processed during the Continuous Voter Registration period.
Transfer Process

Visit your new INEC LGA office
Go to the INEC office in the Local Government Area where you now reside. You cannot process a transfer at your old registration center.

Ask the INEC official for a voter transfer application form. Fill it out completely and accurately.

Hand over your existing Permanent Voter's Card and a valid means of identification. The official will verify your identity against the national voter register.
