Frequently Asked Questions

Data Licensing FAQs

What data formats are available?

We offer data in CSV, JSON, and SPSS formats. API access returns JSON by default. Enterprise clients can request custom formats including Parquet and direct database integration.

Can I use NigeriaPolls data for commercial purposes?

Yes, but the license depends on your tier. Free data is available under CC BY 4.0, which permits commercial use with attribution. Commercial and Enterprise tiers include broader usage rights and indemnification for high-volume or resale applications.

How often is the API updated?

The API is updated in real time as new polls are published. Historical data is backfilled to 2019. Enterprise clients can request webhook notifications when new data matching their filters becomes available.

Do you offer free data access?

Yes. All independently conducted NigeriaPolls surveys are published under CC BY 4.0 and available for free download in CSV format. Free access includes poll toplines, cross-tabs, and methodology summaries. Raw datasets and API access require an Academic, Commercial, or Enterprise license.

What is the difference between Academic and Commercial licenses?

Academic licenses are discounted for verified researchers and students. They permit use in peer-reviewed publications, theses, and classroom teaching. Commercial licenses are for businesses, media organisations, and consultancies. They include higher rate limits, SLA guarantees, and permission to use data in commercial products and client deliverables.
