Sustainability Statement

How Academic Support Services NG Ltd, trading as NigeriaPolls, approaches sustainability across its research operations. Written against the environmental, social and economic pillars of the UN Sustainable Procurement Framework, and published so that any client, funder or procurement reviewer can check it rather than take it on trust.

In one sentence

We run a phone-first national research operation staffed by Nigerians in the states they survey, which means a nationwide study is completed without national travel, the work and the spend stay in the Nigerian economy, and consent, safeguarding and data protection are built into the method rather than bolted onto it.

Environmental

Our primary data collection method is telephone, SMS and WhatsApp interviewing, conducted from a single call centre in Lagos by interviewers working in their own states. A nationwide study of several thousand respondents is therefore completed without national travel, which is the largest single environmental cost in conventional face to face fieldwork in Nigeria.

Where in person fieldwork is required by the research design, we recruit field personnel resident in the communities being surveyed rather than deploying teams from Lagos, which materially reduces travel.

All instruments, responses and audit records are digital. We do not use paper questionnaires.

Social

Our interviewers are Nigerian and based across the country rather than concentrated in one city. Fieldwork is paid work in the states where the research takes place.

Every respondent gives informed consent before an interview begins, and is told when a call is recorded. Outbound calling is screened against the Nigerian Communications Commission do-not-disturb register. Research involving anyone under 18 requires parental or guardian consent and the young person's own assent.

We design for gender representation in our samples as a methodological requirement, and we report findings disaggregated by sex and age so that inequalities are visible rather than averaged away. Our published indices include measures of governance trust, security perception, healthcare access, education quality and social cohesion, which exist to make the experience of ordinary Nigerians part of the public record.

Respondent data is held under Nigerian data protection law and is never sold or transferred to third parties for marketing. Our full method is published at /methodology.

Economic

We are a Nigerian registered company employing Nigerians. Our voice infrastructure is connected directly to a Nigerian carrier trunk rather than routed through an overseas gateway, so the spend stays in the domestic economy.

We contract Nigerian small and medium enterprises for field coordination and logistics, and we pay field personnel on agreed day rates rather than per completed interview, so that quality is not traded against speed.

Commitments

We commit to maintaining these practices, to publishing our research methodology openly so that it can be scrutinised, and to developing measurable sustainability reporting as the company grows. We state that as a commitment rather than a claim: this company was incorporated in 2026 and we would rather name what we do not yet measure than report a figure we cannot stand behind.

This statement is reviewed annually.
