Ebonyi State, created in 1996 from parts of Abia and Enugu states, is the smallest mainland state in Nigeria by area at 5,533 km². Despite its size, it has emerged as one of Nigeria's most transformed states under consecutive administrations. With approximately 3 million residents across 13 LGAs, Ebonyi is predominantly Igbo and Christian. The state's economy rests on agriculture — particularly rice, yam, and cassava — and solid minerals including salt, lead, zinc, and limestone.
